Runoff

Some election contests can result in a situation that requires a runoff. In these cases the top candidates are identified as runoff candidates and will be part of a follow-up election contest to determine the ultimate winner.

As of version 13.4.4.4 the Elections module has some support for identifying a contest as Runoff Eligible.

As of version 15.10.3.4 the Elections module now supports both a Runoff Eligible and an Is Runoff flag.

Identify a Contest as Runoff Eligible

To flag a contest as possible ending in a runoff you can set this flag in the Elections module - Contest Editing.

You will also want to identify the number of possible runoff candidates by specifying it at the number of positions for the office.

Flag a contest as Runoff Eligible in the Contest Editing form.

In Results

You can see which ridings are selected as potential runoffs in the Elections Results module by looking for the icon.

A Content Admin user can also turn the Is Runoff flag on/off in the result module when editing the results if the contest is already Runoff Eligible.

When the Is Runoff field is set then the icon in the results list changes color to reflect this:

The Elections Results module will allow you to filter results by using the Is Runoff and Runoff Eligible fields similar to the Acclaimed, Elected, and Incumbent fields.
