Elector Player

The BL Elector Player is an output tool that outputs graphics using Elector database elements. The Player uses a naming convention for scenes and scene tags. The scene tags are replaced with the appropriate data prior to being displayed on-air (or on preview). To see what the scene and tag naming conventions are, please refer to: Elector Player Tags.

There are 2 graphics engines (CGs) that are supported. These are the:

  • Ross' XPression engine - this Player is named Elector Player for XPression, and
  • Bannister Lake's own Chameleon Web Server - this Player is named Elector Player for Web.

For each version of the Elector Player, there are 2 additional sets of tools that are required.:

  • Graphics CG to generate graphics scenes (i.e. templates) to output from the Elector Player:
    • XPression - the CG can be XPression Studio or XPression Designer.
    • Chameleon Web Player - the CG is Bannister Lake's Chameleon Designer.
  • Gears - an agent that synchronizes graphics package data derived from the Graphics CG with the available election data and playlist information in the Elector database. The Elector Player can output individual scenes or entire playlists of ordered, scheduled scenes created in Flow:
    • XPression - the agent is named Elector Gears for XPression.
    • Chameleon Web Player - the agent is named Elector Gears for Web.

With the Elector Player for XPression, it is installed locally on the same system running the XPression Studio or BlueBox as it uses an instance of the XPression engine.

With the version the Elector Player for Web it can be installed on any system so long as it has access to the Chameleon Web Player using TCP sockets.

For more information on the specific version of the Elector Player, please refer to the documentation for Elector Player for XPression or /wiki/spaces/EL/pages/2767585285.
