Once you have added the parties and ridings for the upcoming election, you need to add candidate information in Elector.
Adding Candidates
You may be able to have your candidates populated by an import from your data provider. You can also manually add any additional candidates you need in Flow.
From the Home page, select Content Management > Add Candidate.
Specify candidateinformation
Click the Add button
The following table describes each of the fields.
Candidate Information | Details | ||
---|---|---|---|
Candidate Headshot | Candidate image files can include an alpha transparency layer, including GIF, PNG, BMP, and TIFF formats.
NOTE: there is also the Headshot Importer Tool that may be very helpful for importing all the headshots later when many candidates have been added. | ||
Incumbent | Indicates if this candidate is the current holder of a political office in their riding | ||
Last & First Name | Be sure to spell the names correctly (Candidates really appreciate that.) | ||
On-Air Insight | A short few words that highlight something special about the candidate that may be displayed on air in a candidate graphic board. | ||
Full Insight | Descriptive text about the candidate, such as government experience and career details, as well as other noteworthy information such as volunteer efforts. For example, a candidate may have a full insight as follows: "Entrepreneur and businessman; Has served as team leader for the local Out of the Cold program in 2011/12." You can spell check as well as apply some basic text formatting options to the full insight text as needed. | ||
Party | Select the candidate's party from the list. | ||
Riding Name | Select the candidate's riding from the list. Ridings are managed in the Ridings module. | ||
Candidate Interest Options | Candidate Interest Options help bring interesting candidates to the forefront of your election results filtering during your fast-paced election night. Select any of the candidate interest options that apply to this candidate, such as Minister, Political Veteran, and so on. These interest flags tells Elector to specifically track these candidates as election results become available on election day. Minister Star Candidate Elector uses a small application, called the Interesting Agent, to track election results for every candidate who has at least one interest flag enabled. As election results show something interesting happening for one of these tracked candidates, Elector creates an Interesting Event for that status. As you review election results, you can instantly identify areas of interest and filter to feature interesting data only. See Stay on Top of Important Events for details on how to find and use Interesting Events posts to your advantage. If you do not select any Candidate Interest Options, the candidate continues to be available for reviewing in election results; however, candidates that have been flagged are more predominantly featured in Flow.
