Installing Flow for Elector
First time?
When installing Elector for the first time for a specific provincial or federal election, create an Application Pool in IIS Manager. Use a name that clearly identifies the election instance (example: Elector SK for a Saskatchewan Provincial election instance).
Stop the Application Pool
It can often be helpful to first stop the Application pool that the Elector instance runs in. This ensures the files that need to be updated are released. This may not be strictly necessary though.
Run the Installer
Launch the installer via the “…_setup.exe” using the Run As Administrator option.
If prerequisites are missing you may be prompted to install them at this point.
Configuring Database Options
The default settings may be sufficient unless you have a custom setup.
Setting Up Your Web Configuration
Usually the default folder is appropriate.
Installation Type
Set the checkbox to correctly identify if you are applying the installation to the primary or a backup server.
Confirm Installation
Select Installation Address
Be sure to select the appropriate Application Pool - should be unique for each Elector install.
Select the Application Pool
Complete the install by pressing the Next button.
Restart the Application Pool
If you stopped the application pool before running the installer - be sure it is started so the site can launch and run.
Application Pool Recycling
The default setting is to to auto recycle every 29 hours to give the appearance of being somewhat random.
You can select a specific time of time instead.
You can enter a specific time and disable the regular intervals option as desired/appropriate:
