Use the Alerts module to create and manage alerts. Alerts can be organized into station or location based groups. They can also be organized based on types of alerts such as flooding or meteorological. Alert data is often acquired through an automated feed but can be entered manually as well. Alerts are similar to stories in that they have a header and a detailed text field. All the other fields are also included like Airs, On Air Time, Expiry Time and dynamic fields. For example, here's an example of an alert coming from the US National Weather Service feed: 
Instead of using story topics, alerts are organized into Groups but essentially, they are the same type of container. Another place where alerts are different from stories is how they are flagged in the Super Ticker UI. There is a special Alert Status that appears on each page of Super Ticker:  Image Removed
This makes is easy to see whether there are any active or inactive alerts. In the example above, it is showing 5 active alerts and 154 inactive alerts. Active/inactive corresponds to the alert field Airs. By clicking on the active or inactive side of the alert status, an expanded view of the alerts is available:  Image Removed
