Troubleshooting Your Flow Setup Issues
Computers want to work well for us, but sometimes they just don't get it done. Don't hit them with a mallet, give them a helping hand.
The following issues have been reported from the field due to inconsistencies in installed components or operating systems. Resolutions are provided.
ISSUE #400 - Server Error in 'XXXXXXXX' Application. Unrecognized attribute 'targetFramework'
This is caused when the Application Pool is trying to run a .NET 4.0 application on the .NET 2.0 CLR.
Error Appears As Follows
Steps for resolution
Step 1 - Open the Control Panel
Step 2 - Open the Administrative Tools
Step 3 - Launch the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
The following is for IIS7, for IIS6 (win 2008) skip to next section
Step 4 - Click on the Application Pools node
Step 5 - Find the DefaultAppPool
Step 6 - Double click on this and set the .NET Framework to v4.0.xxxxx
If .NET Framework 4.0.xxxx is not available in the drop down, the .NET 4.0 framework will need to be installed. See installation instructions for location of this server install package.
Step 7 - Click OK and refresh your browser to see the page render properly
Step 4 FOR IIS 6
Step 4 - roll out the Web Sites tree until the system you are managing becomes visible. Right click and choose properties, then click on the ASP.Net tab. Select 4.0.xxxx and click OK. The IIS application will be restarted for you.
ISSUE #401 - Installation Incomplete. The installer was interrupted before BL Flow could be installed.
This is caused on MS Server installations when the IIS 6 Metabase has not been added as part of the feature set.
Error Appears As Follows
Steps for resolution
Step 1 - Open the Administration Control Panel
Step 2 - Launch the Programs and Features manager
Step 3 - Click on Turn Windows Features On/Off
Step 4 - Find the IIS Branch and expand it.
Step 5 - Expand the Web Management Tools branch
Step 6 - Expand the IIS 6 Management Compatibility branch
Step 7 - Enable IIS Metabase and IIS 6 Configuration Compatibility
Step 8 - Click OK to install
Step 9 - Try the Flow installation again.
ISSUE #402 - Elector Player: "Can’t open connection to elections database. Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts."
This is most often caused when the database port is not open on the database server.
Steps for resolution
Step 1 - Open the Control Panel
Step 2 - Open the Windows Firewall
Step 3 - Use the Advanced Settings link
Step 4 - Under Inbound rules, select New Rule
Step 5 - Under what type of rule, select PORT
Step 6 - Click NEXT and then under the next dialog enter 3306. This is the port that the database communicates with the server on
Step 7 - Click NEXT and then under the next dialog click NEXT again. The default "Allow the Connection" should be highlighted.
Step 8 - The defaults are fine for the next dialog as well, click the NEXT button
Step 9 - give you rule a fun name!. Click FINISH
Try connecting to the database server again with your player.
