Getting Started With Tick-It

Part of the Tick-It system along with the RossVideo Xpression player is a Web and Data server component. For demoing porpoisespurposes, the web and data server can be installed on the RossVideo Ross Video BlueBox or player system but if more than 1 concurrent user will be accessing the web based system, a separate server is recommended.

Note

This guide is based on installing the BL product on Win Server 2012

This guide may have additional notes for installing on Windows 7

 

 

 

Configuring Windows Features / IIS

The basic features of a web server will need to be configured

  1. Open Control Panel/ Programs Features. 
  2. Enable IIS, Web Management Tools and WWW services in Windows Features. (Control Panel > Programs & Features > Turn Windows Features On/Off > expand Internet Information Services and enable the following:
  • Internet Information Services > Web Management Tools > IIS 6 Management Compatibility > IIS Metabase and IIS 6 configuration compatibility
  • Internet Information Services > Web Management Tools > IIS Management Console

Disabled logging for IIS as it is not needed for internal systems. Open IIS Manager from the Control Panel > Administrative Tools

  • Focus on the TOP NODE of the IIS Manager and then double click on Logging to open it.
  • On the right, click the Disable link to turn logging off.

Obtain the Bannister Super Ticker package here by getting the MSI and the setup.exe In cases where the web and data server are installed on the same system as the XPression graphic engine it's called Solo.

Installing Tick-It Content Management Software

You will obtain your installer from the this location - http://bannisterlake.com/dl/installs/Super-Ticker/Flow/

Run the installer by running the SETUP.exe, ensure you enter the password you just set during the database configuration screen.

Two directories need permission changes.Open Windows Explorer and navigate to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\tweetout and click on the properties of the APP_DATA folder

Navigate to the SECURITY TAB and click the EDIT BUTTON. Select the IIS_USER User Name and then check the ALLOW MODIFY checkbox. Click OK. Close all dialogs.

Now repeat this with the Uploads folder.

 

Assigning A Serial Number

Chameleon/_flow/ 

The install EXE is a self extracting ZIP and will be named something like: Flow_14.X.X.X.exe

Installing Your Tick-it Web Based Content Management Package

Step 1 - Obtain the Ross Video, Tick-it package here by getting the EXE file from the location listed above

Step 2- Run the installer by double clicking the EXE package

Step 3 - Click Yes >

Step 4 - Select the product you would like to install (select Tick-it) >

Step 6 - Change the database password to the one that you used when installing the MySQL server. If unsure leave the default and click Next >

Step 7 - Change the default install folder if desired, otherwise, click Next >

Step 8 - Change the default virtual directory to match your install folder (abover) or leave the "tickit" default and click Next >

Step 9 - If this is the primary data server leave the checkbox. If it is a backup server - clear the checkbox.

Step 11 - Click close when the installer finishes.

Upon completion of of installation a browser will open and your Content Management Web interface should appear with an upgrade reporting indicating the details of the database update results.

Assigning A Serial Number To Your Ross Video Web Based Content Management 

Step 1 - Open Tick-It by launching a browser and entering entering http://localhost/supertickerThe access password is B1nnisterLake which will tickit/

Step 2 - Use the access password to allow you to enter a serial number that you have obtained from Ross Video.

Step 3 - Once logged in, find the Serial Number tab and enter your serial number. You will now have the desired product.

As of Flow version 10.1.4.1 an internet connection is required when applying a new serial number to confirm the serial number's availability.

  1. Open Tick-It by launching a browser and entering it’s url. Example: http://localhost/tickit

  2. Login

    1. If you don’t yet have a serial number assigned you will need to use the configuration admin access password to allow you to enter a serial number that you have obtained from Bannister Lake

The serial number will change the interface into the Ross Tick-It

    1. If you have a previous serial number that you are updating then you can login as a System Admin user and navigate to the System Tools - Configuration module

Assign IP Location of Chameleon Flow Server


In order for other Chameleon applications which aren’t running on the same machine as the database to be able to properly access the Chameleon DB you must provide either the IP address of the server or an accessible host name.

Examples:

Assign it in Preferences

Step 1 - Click on the Preferences tab.

Step 2 - Select the "Database Location for Apps" setting. You can find it easily by using the filter field and typing in 'apps'

Step 3 - Once you have this setting selected you can fill in the correct IP address or host name and click on 'Update Now'.
